How to Set an Asking Price for a Used Item on Bechly

An asking price is a starting point, not proof of what an item will sell for. Begin by finding active listings for the same model or item type in the same city. Compare condition, age, included accessories, warranty or service records, visible defects and urgency. Exclude listings that are clearly different, have no numeric price, or appear misleading.

Bechly census used for this guide

On September 18, 2026, Bechly queried the preceding 90-day window, from June 20 through September 18, for active listings with numeric asking prices greater than zero. The query returned 543 active listings. Although the query covered 90 days, every qualifying active record happened to have an updated_at date between September 11 and September 18. That observed seven-day span is a property of the returned records, not a seven-day sampling rule.

The category counts were Electronics & Home Appliances (126), Fashion & Beauty (98), Mobiles (89), Furniture & Home Decor (67), Services (43), Video-Audios (36), Property for Sale (30), Bikes (17), Vehicles (9), Kids (9), Books/Sports/Hobbies (6), Property for Rent (3), Animals (3), Business/Industrial/Agriculture (3), Jobs (2), and Computers & Accessories (2).

The method was a census, not a sample: status had to be active, the asking price had to be numeric and greater than zero, and updated_at had to fall in the 90-day query window. Draft, sold, expired and deleted listings and contact-for-price entries were excluded. These are seller asking prices, not completed sales. The census cannot establish market value or promise a sale time.

Price an individual item

Select at least five genuinely comparable active listings when available. Start near the middle of that comparable set, then adjust for documented condition and included items. State defects honestly and leave room for negotiation only when you are willing to negotiate. Review the price if the listing remains active, but do not repeatedly change it to create false urgency.
